Description

EcoQuilt65 Insulation

EcoQuilt65 Insulation is thermally the highest performing Multifoil Insulation product in our range and can be used in a massive range of applications. It boasts exceptional thermal benefits, but it also serves as a vapour control layer too which means you are safeguarded against both condensation and moisture.

Size: 1.5 x 10m (Covers 15m²)

EcoQuilt65 Insulation is made from 19 layers and is 65mm thick. The layers consist of recycled loft quilt, reflective PET, and reinforced heavy-duty laminated foil outer layers. This product was launched following the success of EcoQuilt Expert and EcoQuilt45 - the 65 just boasts even greater thermal properties.

EcoQuilt65 Insulation Performance

EcoQuilt65 has been in-house tested in a lab,  according to the principles of EN 12267:2001. Results revealed a core R-value of 2.040m²K/W. EcoQuilt65 on Pitched Roofs: This translates to a pitched roof or flat roof R-value of 2.94m²K/W. Stud Wall / Timber Frame Wall: Expect an R-value of 3.38m²K/W. EcoQuilt65 on Floors: An impressive R-value of up to 4.73m²K/W. When compared to alternative insulation types, the EcoQuilt65 equates to around 180mm of Mineral Wool or 90mm of PIR Insulation.

EcoQuilt65 - The Superior  Alternative to SF40

Thermal Comparison Against SF40

A side-by-side comparison was conducted to compare the thermal performance of both EcoQuilt65 and SF40. SuperFoil SF40 is marketed and sold as a 65mm product (Like EcoQuilt65). However, the data on their site was based on a product that was 86.1mm thick. They have now lost their BBA certificate due to this. When compared in identical experimental conditions, EcoQuilt65 proved to have a 4% greater thermal performance, boasting a 2.040m²K/W

Country of Origin

The EcoQuilt65 is made, designed, and fabricated in the vicinity of Sheffield, United Kingdom. In contrast, SuperFOIL's SF40 is a product that is imported from China and does not currently hold any certification for building regulations.

The cost of EcoQuilt65, compared to SF40

From a cost perspective, we can offer you a vast cost saving on EcoQuilt65 against the alternative, which is SF40.

Question and Answer
How does EcoQuilt65 compared to other insulation materials?

EcoQuilt65 is proven to save considerable costs compared to Rigid PIR Insulation, such as Kingspan. It is much lighter and will also save space. EcoQuilt65 will outperform the thinner version EcoQuilt45, alongside alternate brands such as SF40.

Are there discounts available on EcoQuilt65?

When 6 roll quantities are ordered, there is a saving on EcoQuilt65. This can be found in our Trade Pallet Deals.

What’s the best method to cut EcoQuilt65?

We recommend cutting EcoQuilt65 either with Multifoil Scissors or a cutting knife. Both are found in our Multifoil Insulation Fitting Kit.

Can you recycle EcoQuilt65?

Whilst EcoQuilt65 is not available for recycling, it is made of approx 60% recycled materials. EcoQuilt65 also will not shrink or degrade over time, and will last the lifetime of the application!

Is EcoQuilt65 waterproof?

When EcoQuilt65 is taped and sealed, it does not allow any moisture to pass through.

Do I need to use a foiled-back plasterboard?

When EcoQuilt65 is the most internal insulation layer, it will work as a high-performance Vapour Control Layer, reducing condensation. If this method is followed, there is no requirement for a Foiled-backed plasterboard.

Can I use this product to insulate my loft?

Yes, EcoQuilt65 is suitable for insulating either the sloping rafters, or loft floor level.

Do I need to use battens with this product?

To gain the best thermal benefits, it is essential to have air-gaps both sides of the insulation. This allows EcoQuilt65 to expand and reflect on both sides. These cavities can be created by battens, or existing timbers e.g. Rafters or Studwork.

How to install EcoQuilt65?

EcoQuilt45 is installed by fixing directly on timer, such as studwork or joists. It is generally stapled or nailed. Overlaps and joins are taped and sealed with Thermaseal Foil Joining Tape.

What is EcoQuilt65?

Ecohome Insulation's EcoQuilt65 is a ultra-performance multifoil insulation designed for use in a variety of building applications. It's extremely popular in loft conversions and wall constructions.
