Description

Efficiently Insulate Your Floors

Around 15% of energy can be lost through your uninsulated Floor. We have a Simple & Easy to install solution for Wooden and Concrete floors that will retain this energy, introducing our EcoTec Floor-Foam Insulation Kit!

EcoTec Floor-Foam Insulation Kit is a perfect home insulation solution if you do not have access to the underside of your Floor. It is also the ideal product for those of you who do not want to remove floorboards, but want to insulate!

EcoTec Floor-Foam prevents cold air from penetrating rooms through concrete and timber floors. It also prevents condensation and drafts, whilst helping dampen sound.

Floor foam consists of 4mm of high-density foam with Highly Reflective True Aluminium Foil on either side.

Fitting Floor-Foam insulation is simple, by laying it directly onto the timber or concrete floor. Ensure the edges are together and seal joints and the perimeter with our 75mm Thermaseal True Aluminium Foil Joining Tape, which is also included in the Kit!

Floor foam is supplied in easy-to-handle 1.2m x 25m rolls covering 30 Square Metres. Supplied with a roll of ThermaSeal Foil Joining Tape 75mm x 50m and Free Next Working Day Delivery to the UK Mainland (When ordered before 2 pm).

Which Flooring is this Suitable for?

EcoTec Floor-Foam Insulation Kit helps increase heat retention below Carpets,  Hardwood, Laminate & Vinyl Floors.

If installing Vinyl Flooring we would recommend using a thin plyboard above the Floor Foam to give the Vinyl Floor a rigid surface to sit on.

For the trade, we offer EcoTec Floor-Foam Insulation Kits as a Trade Pallet Deal. Which contains 9 or 15 rolls of FloorFoam and ThermaSeal Foil Tape.

How to Insulate Above a Timber Floor

SPC-Lux Flooring – Superior Alternative to Laminate and LVT

How-To Guides
How To Insulate Under Carpets Laminate or Vinyl using EcoTec Floor-Foam
1. Roll out EcoTec Floor-Foam

Starting at one end of the room, roll out the Ecotec FloorFoam to the desired length. We recommend starting in one corner.

2. Cutting the Insulation

When you have reached the desired length, simply cut the EcoTec Floor Foam, with a sharp Knife / Scissors. You can also make a slit in the material for radiator pipes too.

How to Insulate Above a Timber Floor
1. Roll out & Cut FloorFoam

Firstly, roll out EcoTec FloorFoam either horizontally or vertically on the timber floor. FloorFoam can then be cut to desired length. We recommend FloorFoam to be cut with a cutting knife or Multifoil Scissors (Available in Multifoil Fitting Kit)

2. Stapling

Staple EcoTec FloorFoam on your timber floor at around 300mm intervals. Ensure FloorFoam Insulation is butt jointed together on both horizontal and vertical sections.

3. Taping and Sealing

Fully tape and seal around the perimeter and butt joints using Thermaseal Foil Joining Tape (Provided free of charge in kit) Taping and sealing ensures no draught or moisture can rise up through the floor.

4. Install Desired Flooring

Once the timber floor is fully covered with FloorFoam Insulation, you can then proceed to install your desired flooring. If carpet is installed, the use of an underlay is advised prior to the carpet. Laminate or wood floors can be installed directly on top of FloorFoam. If a vinyl or lino is being used, we would advise the use of a plywood over the top of the FloorFoam.

How to Insulate a Concrete Floor
1. Rolling out FloorFoam

Start by rolling out FloorFoam Insulation either vertically or horizontally on the concrete floor. EcoTec FloorFoam can then easily be cut by using Multifoil Scissors or a Cutting Knife - Both available in our Multifoil Fitting Kit.

2. Fixing Down Floor-Foam Insulation

FloorFoam is fixed onto concrete floors by using Thermaseal Double Sided Tape, or Non-Solvent Glue. Ensure FloorFoam Insulation is fully taped and sealed on butt joints on the floor. Also tape FloorFoam around the perimeter. (Thermaseal Foil Tape is provided free of charge in the Insulation Kit). Taping and sealing ensures no draught or moisture can rise up through the floor.

3. Install Preferred Final Flooring

Once your concrete floor has been covered with FloorFoam, next you can install your desired flooring. Wood & laminate flooring can be installed directly on top of FloorFoam. We recommend to use a carpet and laminate underlay prior to a carpet or laminate being installed. If a vinyl or lino is being used, we would advise the use of a plywood over the top of the FloorFoam.

Question and Answer
Can carpet grippers be nailed through FloorFoam?

Yes, you can nail carpet grippers through FloorFoam. You can alternatively use a non-solvent adhesive.

Is there discount on larger quantities?

We offer EcoTec FloorFoam Trade Pallet Deals, where you order 9 rolls per pallet and receive a discount on the rolls

What is the best way to cut FloorFoam?

We would recommend cutting FloorFoam with either Multifoil Scissors or a Cutting Knife. Both are available in our Multifoil Fitting Kit.

Can I use vinyl over FloorFoam?

Yes, however we would recommend installing a thin plywood over the FloorFoam before installing a vinyl.

Do I need any extra protection between the insulation and the flooring I’m laying over the top?

We do recommend laying a thin layer of plywood over the floor-foam if you’re installing tile, vinyl, carpet tiles, or LVT flooring. This will give the flooring a completely solid surface to lay on. You don’t need to do this with carpet or laminate.

Will I need to buy an extra ThermaSeal Foil Joining Tape?

No, you shouldn’t need any extra tape one roll will cover 50m, if you do make any mistakes there is extra for you to use.

How much flooring will the EcoTec Floor-Foam Insulation Kit cover?

One kit will cover 30 square meters.

Do I need to tape and seal the insulation?

Yes, you do need to tape and seal the FloorFoam otherwise draughts would still come up through the gaps in the insulation. Which would prevent the insulation from working at its best.

How do I attach the floor-foam to concrete floors?

We sell Thermaseal double-sided tape that is perfect for this, or you can use a non-solvent adhesive.

Can I use floor-foam in the bathroom and kitchen?

As long as the floor-foam is correctly sealed and protective flooring is laid on top you won’t have any issues with it getting mouldy, damp, or reacting with water.

Do I need to use underlay if I’m installing carpet over the top?

Yes, you definitely need to install underlay on top of the floor foam if you’re installing carpet. Floor-foam isn’t a replacement for underlay.
